Chicago Psyching Team – Sport Psychology for Endurance Athletes

As a lead of the Chicago Psyching Team and a medical psychology volunteer, Daniel Wilsea works alongside a multidisciplinary group of professionals dedicated to supporting endurance athlete performance throughout the Chicago race season.

The Psyching Team combines sport psychology, mental skills coaching, and psychological first aid to help runners perform their best at major events such as:

  • The Bank of America Chicago Marathon

  • The Chicago 13.1

  • The Shamrock Shuffle

  • The Big Ten 10K

These events provide opportunities to integrate mental performance strategies with on-the-ground athlete care, helping runners manage pre-race nerves, stay focused during competition, and recover effectively after events.

Daniel’s involvement with the Chicago Psyching Team reflects his ongoing commitment to applied sport psychology—bridging science and practice to promote athlete well-being and performance.

The collaboration between Psyching and Medical Teams creates a comprehensive support system for endurance athletes, emphasizing the importance of both mental and physical health in sport.
